Friendship, Inc.

Friendship. Inc is a private, non-profit corporation owned by Catholic Health Initiatives, a national non-profit health organization with headquarters in Denver, Colorado. We provide integrated community based services where people with intellectual and other disabilities can live, work and grow in a Christian atmosphere.

Friendship, Inc.'s historical roots take us back as far as 1897 when the Presentation Sisters of Fargo established St. John's Orphanage. In 1961, the Sisters established Villa Nazareth, which evolved into a Ministry for young women with social challenges. In 1981, the Presentation Sisters offered the Villa Nazareth site to the expanding Friendship Village program. Begun as a day program at Sacred Heart Convent in 1974, Friendship Village soon grew to be both a vocational and a residential program for people with developmental disabilities. Since 1987 it has been known as Friendship, Inc.

The Mission of Friendship,Inc. and Catholic Health Initiatives is to nurture the healing ministry of the Church by bringing it new life, energy and viability in the 21st century. Fidelity to the Gospel urges us to emphasize human dignity and social justice as we move toward the creation of healthier communities.

Friendship, Inc currently provides an array of residential and employment services that support people to live rich, full meaningful lives in community.
People are supported in several communities throughout eastern North Dakota,  specifically the Fargo, Grafton, Park River and Cavalier areas.
