The Mission of Detroit Mountain Recreation Area, Inc. is to promote sound environmental recreation and educational programming to develop the health and wellness of children, families and communities
Background
A group of private citizens came together in March of 2010 to discuss how Detroit Mountain Ski Area could be reopened. The result was the formation of a non-profit dedicated to providing four season outdoor recreation and education opportunities.
In less than one year's time the group privately funded and conducted a feasibility study that has been presented to both the City of Detroit Lakes and Becker County. It is the request of DMRA, Inc. that both City and County governments participate in the effort to to resurrect Detroit Mountain Ski Area as well as needed four season recreation opportunities for its' citizens.
Efforts are now under way to develop a full scale business plan and purchase the 200 acre site.
